About this tool
What YouTube to MP3 does
Turn a YouTube video into an MP3 in two steps: download the audio track from YouTube, then convert that file to MP3 inside your browser. The conversion uploads nothing, but it is real transcoding — the file has to be downloaded first, and the browser has to be able to decode AAC locally.
- Two steps, two different privacy rulesStep one sends only the video link to our resolver and the audio bytes come straight from YouTube. Step two never talks to a server at all.
- Real MP3, not a renamed M4AThe output is encoded with LAME inside your browser. Some converters hand you an AAC file renamed to .mp3; this page does not.
- Compatibility stated before you startThe page checks what your browser can decode and says so up front, including the devices where AAC decoding is missing, so a failed attempt is never a surprise.
- Bitrate you controlChoose 128, 192 or 320 kbps. Converting AAC to MP3 is a second lossy encode, so a higher bitrate only limits the extra damage — it cannot restore quality.
Quick guide
How to use YouTube to MP3
- 1
Paste the video link
The resolver returns the audio-only stream. If the video only has a combined file, the page says so and offers that instead.
- 2
Download the audio
The file travels from YouTube to your browser; it does not pass through our servers.
- 3
Convert it locally
Drop the downloaded file back in, pick a bitrate and encode. The file never leaves your device.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is this YouTube to MP3 converter free?
Yes. No account, no install and no watermark. Two limits are stated on the page: 30 minutes and 300 MB per converted file.
Why two steps instead of one click?
A browser cannot fetch a YouTube audio stream and re-encode it without cross-origin access we do not control. Doing it in one click would mean our servers handling your audio, which is exactly what we refuse to do.
Does the MP3 sound worse than the original?
Slightly, yes. YouTube delivers AAC audio and MP3 is a different lossy format, so converting re-encodes it. 320 kbps keeps the extra loss small but cannot undo it.
Which browsers cannot do the conversion?
Those without AAC decoding: Firefox on Linux, some Android WebViews and in-app browsers, and iOS before 15. The page detects this and tells you before you try.
Where do my files go?
Nowhere. Step one sends only the video link, and step two runs entirely in this tab — no upload request is made.
